"The wedding was a small but wildly joyous affair, in the River Cafe. The minute everybody came in, the Bash Band started playing, everybody began to dance, the three little girls started singing (daughters of the groom) ..... it was truly delightful, a happy thing to see"

About the Bash Band

Bash Band are six rock musicians who have moved into other careers but have always preferred playing to live audiences. Since forming in 1992 they have performed in some of the most exclusive UK venues and events.

Initially singer/guitarist Hugh McManners, then an Army officer, found it impossible to book what he considered to be a proper rock band for a mess function he was organising in Germany, so in cahoots with film and television music producer Graham Walker, flew over a group of musician friends from his earlier years as a prog rocker. The resulting band was rough round the edges but got the party roaring.

Then, in 1992, the oldest cricket club in the world (Kenfield) was celebrating the beginnings of the game with an England and Celebrity cricket match and Ball, but was suffering the same problem - not being able to book a decent band. Hugh was again persuaded to get a band together, which was to become the Bash Band: again with Graham Walker, guitarist Chris Cawte and drummer Matt Button as the other founding members.
